R U OK? Day Special Event
As part of R U OK? Day, Running for Resilience is honoured to welcome Andrew Logan for a powerful evening of conversation about supporting boys and young men before they reach crisis.
Many of you may have recently heard Andrew on the Running for Resilience Podcast, where he shared his family's story with incredible honesty.
In 2025, Andrew lost his 19-year-old son, Johannes, to suicide. In the aftermath, he realised how little he understood about the warning signs and risk factors that had been present but unseen. Since then, Andrew has dedicated himself to helping other parents recognise those signs earlier, so more families never have to experience what his family has.
Through his Hey, I'm Not OK presentations and his Instagram @say.hey.im.not.ok, Andrew shares practical, evidence-informed ways parents can better understand, support and connect with the boys and young men in their lives.
This session will explore:
The warning signs and risk factors for suicide in boys and young men.
How to recognise when someone may be struggling.
Practical ways to start conversations and provide support.
What parents can do before a situation becomes a crisis.
Andrew's work has already helped thousands of parents across Australia.
What parents are saying:
"I want to thank you for making my life better. I have a 16-year-old son. Your insights are helping me manage the ups and downs of parenting him."
"Thank you for what you are doing. Your raw truth is inspiring."
"I have three teenage sons myself and your messages about the risk factors are so powerful."
And from a young man:
"Coming from a young fella, thank you for what you're doing, mate. Keep doing it. You are making a massive difference for future generations."
Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach or simply someone who cares about young people, this is an evening that could change the way you recognise and respond to someone who needs support.
Join us at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 9 September at Local Press Café, next to The Dock at Kingston Foreshore. We'd love to see you there.
